Fighting Fossil Fuels
Ending the fossil economy once and for all.

The vast majority of Climate Emergency Fund grants aim to end the fossil fuel economy once and for all. Our grantees are grassroots movement groups employing a wide range of tactics ranging from protesting fossil fuel infrastructure, disrupting sports and cultural events, birddogging politicians to citizen’s arrests of fossil fuel executives. These groups wield the kind of people power that ensures decision-makers face consequences for continued inaction on the climate crisis.
Example past program beneficiaries:
Extinction Rebellion Netherlands
Extinction Rebellion Netherlands built a creative campaign in 2022 to bring out tens of thousands of people into the streets and hold the Dutch government accountable to take steps toward ending subsidies for fossil fuel companies.
New York Communities for Change
New York Communities for Change has built a multi-racial, cross-class base of activists pushing for climate justice in New York. The group regularly protests politicians and rogue executives and has achieved numerous concrete victories, including a statewide ban on gas in new construction.
