Philip Eubanks
Executive Director
Philip W. Eubanks is a nonprofit leader whose career spans fundraising, movement-building, and more than a decade of experience in international development, human rights, and interfaith cooperation. He brings a values-driven approach to his leadership at Climate Emergency Fund.
Early in his career, Philip served two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco, where he developed a lasting commitment to community-led change, monitoring and evaluating USAID and other grant proposals in the field, giving firsthand insight into the impact of institutional funding. After returning from Morocco, he served a papal agency for humanitarian relief, raising more than $3 million to support climate refugees in the Middle East and beyond.
Philip’s path toward climate leadership was further shaped during his time at the Committee to Protect Journalists, where he helped raise more than $25 million over his five-year tenure. There, he was deeply moved by the courage of journalists covering environmental issues and exposing the role of the fossil fuel industry in driving climate breakdown. At the same time, he grew increasingly concerned by what he saw as a “business as usual” attitude toward climate coverage, even as scientists warned of accelerating and irreversible harm. His academic training under civil rights leaders at Vanderbilt University continues to inform his leadership today, grounding his work in moral clarity, accountability, and purpose.
Drawing on this wide-ranging experience, Philip now focuses on strengthening the disruptive, nonviolent climate movement. He works to build the resources, strategy, and infrastructure activists need to drive meaningful change at scale—applying his expertise in fundraising, strategy, and movement-building to meet the urgency of the climate polycrisis.
